Case Studies

QUALCOMM

CHALLENGE:
Qualcomm develops its technologies and solutions to enable key participants in the wireless industry to continue to evolve and innovate. Qualcomm needed a solution for passing on product knowledge to vendors who utilize their products.

SOLUTION:
digital OutPost captured the seminars led by Qualcomm’s top engineers and formatted them for multimedia use. Using Vforum™, Qualcomm was able to have their slides and instructors presented side by side in a searchable, non-linear environment for users to easily find the information they needed. As a special feature for Qualcomm, dOP added a “Notes” section, an attached presentation to better explain the lecture and formulas. digital OutPost completed the project by delivering a Web based Vforum program that worked perfectly inside of  Qualcomm’s internet hosting platform.

RESULTS:
Qualcomm now has a secure, cost-effective and consistent knowledge transfer system, archived for reference in all future training.

SPAWAR

CHALLENGE:
U.S. Navy SPAWAR invents, acquires, develops, delivers and supports business IT and space capabilities in the interest of national defense. SPAWAR encountered sailors having difficulty retaining classroom training, as well as locating the correct training information in their printed manuals in a timely manner while at sea. Additionally, most online training programs could not pass through their network security protocols, limiting their options.

SOLUTION:
digital OutPost created a multimedia presentation that includes a video of the speaker, PowerPoint slides and a slide index streamlined into a cohesive Vforum™ product. The searchable slide index allows the sailors to locate specific information promptly, while the video format increases sailors’ retention rate. Accessible via CD-ROM or online, training now successfully passes through their network from SPAWAR’s server.

RESULTS:
The SPAWAR Institute now delivers training updates in a quick and easy video format, both online and via CD-ROM to sailors at sea.

AMYLIN PHARMACEUTICALS

CHALLENGE:
Amylin Pharmaceuticals is a biopharmaceutical company committed to improving lives through the discovery, development and commercialization of innovative medicines. As a global company, Amylin needed a solution to deliver their quarterly meeting to employees around the world.

SOLUTION:
digital OutPost captures Amylin’s employee meeting, editing the footage to become part of the multimedia Vforum™ format. Included are video, Powerpoint and chapter titles, all graphically enhanced with Amylin’s company colors and logo. Provided as small files, Amylin hosts the presentation on their corporate intranet, with an archive of each meeting for future reference.

RESULTS:
Amylin now posts a video presentation of their employee meeting within 48 hours of the live presentation, allowing employees to view the meeting online worldwide.

U.S. ARMY

CHALLENGE:
Working in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Army trains and equips soldiers to serve our nation. The Army faced a two-pronged challenge: reaching qualified recruits in a way that appealed to the target market and effectively portraying field operations during classroom training.

SOLUTION:
Embedding themselves in the action, digital OutPost crews venture into swamps, out of helicopters, up the side of cliffs and down zip-lines, videotaping the Army’s training. Capturing actual, live training, as opposed to staged procedures allows digital OutPost to create the highest quality reality-based footage available to classrooms and recruiters.

RESULTS:
High-stimulus motion graphics and footage enables recruiters to reach their target market successfully, motivating recruitment and providing accurate training visuals for the classroom.

VALOR MEDICAL

CHALLENGE:
Valor Medical™ develops malleable polymeric flow diverter technology products that are revolutionizing the treatment of cerebral aneurysms. During Valor Medical’s start-up phase, potential investors were directed to videotaped product demonstrations on their website. However, these videos took several minutes for the investors to download, causing many to abandon the video presentation.

SOLUTION:
Having won several national awards for compression techniques, digital OutPost provides the best quality to size ratio video files. digital OutPost compressed Valor Medical’s product demonstrations and provided Valor Medical a series of user names and passwords for investors to access the footage. The videos now take only seconds to load, while the password tracking allows Valor Medical to obtain and access usage statistics.

RESULTS:
Valor Medical’s product demonstrations can now be viewed during conference calls with potential investors in a timely manner. The result has caused an explosion of measured activity on the company’s website which has led investment dollars to Valor Medical.

CHALLENGE:
PetCo operates over 850 pet stores in 49 states and the District of Columbia. The company faced the challenge of delivering frequent, convenient, cost-effective and consistent communications to its thousands of employees. PetCo’s Director of Sales and Director of Marketing wanted to personally deliver the latest company news and product highlights on a quarterly basis.

SOLUTION:

PetCo’s Director of Sales and Director of Marketing videotape their messages on the digital OutPost stage which are then incorporated into a multimedia format, with large easy-to-follow video and PowerPoint windows. PetCo is now able to update their employees at all locations on a quarterly basis with a click of a button.
